When we first visited this home in Wellesley Hills it buried in an intimidating tangle of overgrown trees and undergrowth. Our first focus was a thorough clearing of the property to better assess the potential. We then added a formal chip seal courtyard and elegant plantings to best highlight the striking façade.

Selective tree removal and creative regrading opened the landscape, creating clearer views of the house and significantly more usable space for the family to enjoy. In the backyard, these changes allowed for a more welcoming brick and bluestone patio, nearly tripled the amount of lawn space, and established a stronger connection between the house and its outdoor living areas. A built-in grill further extends the functionality of the patio, creating a setting that supports both everyday family use and casual entertaining.

The front of the property was reimagined with equal care. A two-entrance drive was reshaped into a more formal and intuitive arrival experience, anchored by a newly defined chip seal courtyard that complements the home’s character. Plantings reinforce the structure of the stonework and help anchor the house within the landscape, while mature evergreens provide elegant privacy screening from neighboring properties. Together, the clearing, grading, stonework, and layered planting create a landscape that feels more composed, spacious, and welcoming, with each element working to strengthen both the beauty and livability of the property.
